That's me... hehehehe
OHOHO. First meeting today. Excited? Not really. I am actually quite tired. After all, I was meandering along a park walk most of last night with some close friends, pondering the trivialities of life and existential dilemmas.
JES MESSIN. We were talking about girls. ANYWAYS, enough rambling. I am tired, yes. But the show must go on, hehe. Today, I am going to represent John Steinbeck in an interview, and also play the part of both Cal AND Aaron. If I don't get an award or something, someone is going to get punched. Nicolle sadly couldn't make it, but filming went by quite smoothly. We met at Ayesha's house and her dog was crazay. He was the silly fella sitting in my lap and then leaving in the interview. I'm pretty sure I covered that up quite well *coughcough* But seriously, it was very fun to jump between all these different personalities. I really felt at touch with the novel after that, exploring both multiple characters and the author himself! Anyways, I can't wait till it goes live and my friends can admire my mustache madness. Sarcasm. After a bit of brainstorming, my group decided that I was going to do some acting. A LOT of acting. Which I am more than ok with, but I wasn't too sure how I was going to impersonate John Steinbeck.
So what did I do? What I do everyday when I have homework that I don't want to do: I went on youtube. I looked at a few interviews and award speeches, and listened to some audio tapes, and after I will, I got a rugged gist of his voice and self presentation. Aha, but a drawback. Facial hair. Yes, my group was passionate about me adhering to John Steinbeck's character as closely as I could, so I did what must be done: I grew out my BEARD. WHICH I HATED. I looked like a predator, wearing a half buttoned down dress shirt with khaki slacks and cheesy aviators, testing out my look. We decided that a blazer and shoes would lighten the impression a bit... But I doubted that it would add some Steinbeck. I decided, for my own good, to keep a full beard and then shave off everything but the mustache before filming, to keep some dignity. And now I here that other students are going to access each others websites. :( Can't say I look forward to being a mustachioed celebrity, but in the name of literature, I shall not complain! First time meeting as a group? Familiar faces I guess, enjoyable company, no foreseeable challenges. Time for some fun >:)
Of course it takes 6 people to get through this chunk of a novel, but this website idea is quite the nifty one. I am rather excited to post this blog, and to really check if anyone reads this, whisper "lemon wedges" at me when i walk by. If I act like I am very confused.... then I am very confused. But I have a horrible memory, so please remind me that I told you to do this so you and I both don't look foolish... This silly idea has been drawn out wayyyy too long. ANYWAYS. Back to the book. Lotsa cool stuff being thought about within our group, and it is interesting to see the developement of key ideas and motifs. For now, I'm looking forward to our group's development. I foresee some good times ahead :D |
