Here are just a few pictures of our filming day!
HAPPY LEAP DAY! I just finished completing the photo recap and it took forever! I watched the movie, got all the screencaps, wrote my comments, and then also included the additional commentary and summary for the entire movie. Along with the movie summary, I also included comparisons and contrasts to the novel itself. I really enjoyed the book. John Steinbeck has easily become one of my favorite authors. And given my love for any movie made between the 1930s-1960s, creating the movie review was a lot of fun. Just a lot of work. Weebly made it so much simpler but just uploading each picture and putting text boxes in one by one made the process a lot longer than it needed to be. I have a weird sense of humor, and I'm constantly referencing some movie or television show--usually from the 80s, so one worry I have is people not really getting my jokes! It's probably going to be really awkward and weird. Buuuuut, oh well. I'm pretty happy with the way it turned out. I also was in charge of the style/structure aspect of the project. I found this to be pretty challenging. I really tried my best not to look up anything regarding the structure of the book, and push myself to think about it. In this piece, I talked about the importance of the multiple generations, parts, and humor within the novel. I actually don't find any humor in the novel... just irony and sadness :( which made it even more challenging to write about. Ah! We're almost there... soon soon soon. I'm now just going over the final edits and making sure everything is in place. It's a little challenging to complete the entire project while keeping up with the rest of the group. Thank goodness for our Facebook page! I really hope people like the site. Besides my work, the rest of my group members have put in so much effort and I'm so lucky to have them as my partners. I know we're suppose to be talking about our frustrations, but I really can't think of any. Each person took their responsibilities head on. I would like to thank writer Price Peterson for inspiring me to write my movie review. You rock. Here's to a great website because we're finally DUNZO. -A Today was such an eventful day. The entire group, minus Nicolle, met at my house where we began our first and last day of shooting for our East of Eden trailer and interviews--directed and written by the infamous Jin Huh.
First we filmed our interview scene in which I interviewed Mr. John Steinbeck himself (played by Raed). The interview is pretty brief but I think we got to the main points about Steinbeck's background and what influenced him while writing the novel. We honestly had to do multiple takes of each question because I couldn't take Raed seriously with his mustache. He looked so creepy! Jin, Raed, and I worked on this portion of the site together. We sat down and just read as much about Steinbeck's background as possible. Raed watched multiple videos just to get the accent down. We had a bunch of questions but narrowed it down to the few that we thought were the most important and hopefully our interview reflects that. A lot of the things Raed says in the interview are actual quotes and ideas Steibeck had while writing this piece. We found an interview of his son Thom and also read a few pages from a book published containing letters exchanged between Steinbeck and his publisher. I'm a bit nervous about our video though. Raed's so relaxed on screen, but I kept messing up and think it's super awkward! Oh well! We had a lot of fun filming in my living room (although it looks nothing like 1900s California)! My dog, Boba, kept barking and intruding our scenes. You can see him come in and out of a few frames in both the interview and maybe the trailer as well. Thankfully Jennifer act as set director and made sure everything was in place and that crazy dog was behaving! In the trailer, I played Abra. And I really think I ruined the video!! I'm just so awkward! After watching the video, we reached the conclusion of Abra just being hungry for attention and stuck in some twisted love triangle with both brothers. So my character in the trailer was trying to make fun of her, but I don't think that worked out very well....Again, I think I ruined it with my gum snapping and weird facial expressions! But I know for sure the movie review will definitely be filled with some sass directed toward Ms. Abra. T-minus three days till our project is due. Let's see how it turns out! -A I watched the East of Eden movie today. Definitely interesting, and much different than what I expected. This is going to be some movie review...
My love for James Dean has only grown stronger. -A Today was our first day meeting together as a group. We had individually worked on our assigned parts and came together at Jennifer's house after school (which was a great idea since Jennifer had these really yummy cookies from Costco!). Our meeting was brief, which wasn't a bad thing. I take pride in how organized and quick our group is. We really work well together and everyone is ready to contribute.
Each person has their own respective aspect of the website that they are responsible for creating, and my part is perfect for me-- watching the East of Eden movie and writing my own review. It cannot get better than that! I've actually been wanting to see the classic movie starring the infamous James Dean (I've always thought he was so cute!). I'm also in charge of answering the question about generations and humor within the novel. Yikes. Let's see how that turns out. -A Howdy!
Wow, my first blog post. How exciting! I'll be using this blog to keep you updated on my work for creating this website and all my thoughts and feelings about the project itself. So far it seems like we're off to a good start. We had our first in class working day. It was tricky since we didn't have proper internet access in class. We had Jennifer's laptop and my phone, but neither of us could get a proper connection. Instead, we spent the class brainstorming ideas and how we wanted to present the site. I automatically got watching the movie and doing some sort of piece on that since everyone knows just how much I love television and movies. It'll be fun though. We have another working day in class on Friday and I think we're going to be meeting up soon outside of class as a group. Keep ya updated! --A |
